On July 4, 2024, the JuSTICE Project conducted a training session focused on enhancing the proposal-writing and budgeting skills of the Project’s focal points and coordinators responsible for coordinating proposals to the Project. Chaired by Mr. Khamphone Sipaserth, Head of the JuSTICE’s Project Management Unit, this session was held in Keooudom District, Vientiane Province. Attendees included Mr. Khonesavanh Xaymoungkhoun, Project Manager for AFD, Dr. Perrine Simon, the JuSTICE’s lead International Technical Advisor, and representatives from the Ministry of Justice, The National Institue of Justice, the People’s Supreme Court, the Lao Bar Association, OSPP and Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, In total, 43 people attended, 24 of whom were women.

The training was designed to enhance participants’ skills in drafting well-structured proposals and effective budget plans for activities that align with the JuSTICE Project’s objectives and comply with the Project’s rules including AFD’s financial rules. Key areas covered included a project overview, coordination methods, adult learning principles, and a structured approach to proposal writing, with a particular focus on financial planning and activity reporting. Additionally, participants engaged in group discussions to address challenges encountered during project implementation and brainstormed potential solutions for improved outcomes.

This two-day training, supported by the JuSTICE Project, provided a valuable platform for fostering collaborative dialogue and building capacity in proposal and budget management, ensuring that coordinators are equipped to support partner activities effectively and efficiently.
