On January 22, 2025, the Justice Services and Training Institutions Capacity Enhancement (JuSTICE) Project successfully held its “Project Steering Committee Meeting” in the Lao PDR. The meeting aimed to review the achievements of the 2024 project implementation and secure approval for the 2025 plan.
The JuSTICE Project, funded by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), is implemented in collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Justice, the National Justice Institute, the Supreme People’s Prosecutor Organization, the Supreme People’s Court, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Lao Bar Association.
The meeting emphasized the critical importance of collective collaboration among these partners to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality activities in 2025. These activities include the review and refinement of textbooks for a 45-day legal training course, organizing a regional conference on environmental law, and representing Lao PDR in the LAWASIA regional lawyers’s conference. Additionally, the meeting highlighted the need to prioritize innovative approaches and capacity-building initiatives to address challenges in the legal and environmental law sectors.
The JuSTICE Project remains committed to advancing justice reform and institutional development in Lao PDR, contributing to a stronger, more equitable legal framework for the country.
The conference was held at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel.
