On 18 July 2024, Dr. Perrine Simon, the newly appointed International Technical Assistant (ITA) for the JuSTICE Project and her team paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Minister of Justice, Mr. Ketsana Phommachanh at the Ministry of Justice Office.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Ketsana Phommachanh expressed his sincere appreciation for the ongoing support provided through the JuSTICE Project. He extended his best wishes to Dr. Perrine Simon as she assumes her crucial role in facilitating the project’s implementation and achieving its objectives. The Deputy Minister also emphasized the significance of the ITA’s contribution to strengthening the capacity of the Lao justice sector.

In response, Dr. Perrine Simon provided a comprehensive overview of the JuSTICE project’s plans for future activities. The discussion included an open exchange regarding the challenges encountered in the implementing Project activities, fostering a collaborative approach to problem-solving and ensuring effective project delivery.

A key component of the meeting involved a detailed report on the ongoing cooperation between the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) and École Nationale de la Magistrature (ENM). Throughout the discussion marked ideas and advises on strategies to optimize project activities and the notable achievements resulting from the partnership and explored the funding for the further collaboration to maximize the impact moving forward on judicial training and legal education in Lao PDR.
