On 24 September 2024, the Ministry of Justice, Mr. Ketsana Phommachanh, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Justice warmly welcomed Mr. Jos Uitdehaag, Vice President of the International Union of Judicial Officers (UIHJ), and his delegation.
The primary purpose of this visit was to conduct a thorough review of the accomplishment achieved during the second phase of UIHJ’s collaborative work with the Division of Judgment Enforcement, a crucial initiative supported by the JuSTICE project. Furthermore, discussions covered on exploring potential revenues for future collaboration between the Ministry of Justice and the UIHJ, with the aim of further strengthening the judgment enforcement framework in Lao PDR.

This initiative aligns with the 2024 action plan of the JuSTICE project, demonstrating an ongoing efforts to enhance the capacity and effectiveness of the Division of Judgment Enforcement. A key aspect of this partnership involves the provision of expert guidance and support by UIHJ experts in developing essential tools, such as comprehensive guidebooks and detailed procedural instructions to improve efficiency and streamline processes within the judgment enforcement system.
During the productive meeting, Deputy Minister Phommachanh expressed appreciation of the Ministry of Justice for the a great support provided by the UIHJ. He emphasizes the importance of continued collaboration to drive the modernization and overall strengthening of the judgment enforcement system in Laos. Deputy Minister Phommachanh extended his sincere gratitude to Mr. Uitdehaag and his team, wishing them continued success and good health throughout their work in the Lao PDR.
