On October 10, 2024, the Department of Law Dissemination at the Ministry of Justice had the honor of welcoming Dr. Perrine Simon, the International Technical Assistant for the JuSTICE Project, along with the team. Mr. Phoutthasone Chanthavilai, Deputy of the Law Dissemination Department hosted this important meeting which underscored the shared commitment to strengthening access to justice and promoting legal awareness across Lao PDR.

The gathering provided a valuable opportunity to review past achievements in law dissemination, with both parties sharing insights and experiences on effective strategies to reach the project objectives. Discussions also focused on the importance of accessible legal information for the public.

In addition to reviewing progress, the meeting explored plans for ongoing collaboration between the JuSTICE Project and the Department of Law Dissemination. Special emphasis was placed on expanding efforts in justice work related to environmental and climate justice, recognizing the critical role that legal frameworks play in safeguarding natural resources and supporting vulnerable communities impacted by environmental challenges.

This visit marks another step toward fostering a well-informed society that is empowered to access legal services and address emerging issues in climate and environmental justice. Both parties expressed a strong commitment to ongoing cooperation, with the JuSTICE Project’s continued support in strengthening the Ministry’s efforts to uphold justice, transparency, and equal access to legal resources for all.
